Disposal of Old Ammunitions and Explosives Ordnance of PNP

   image002.jpg     image006.jpg    In linimage001.jpge with the program of the PNP to continually maintain its fire power capability and readiness in the fight against lawless elements including local and international terrorists, the Logistics Support Service (LSS) under the strong stewardship of PCSUPT MANUEL H CACHERO regularly conducts inventory and accounting of ammunition and explosive ordnance to maintain their serviceability. Relatedly, old and deteriorating ammunitions and explosive ordnance are to be disposed and replenished.

             On March 28-29, 2011, bomb disposal team from Explosive Ordnance Disposal Division of LSS had bravely undertaken the disposal of unserviceable small arms ammunitions and military ordnance from the stockpiles of the PNP-LSS, consisting of 10,700 rounds of Caliber 50 ammunitions and 1,558 rounds of 60 mm and 81 mm mortar cartridges.

            The disposal operation was conducted at the Explosive Disposal Area of Crow Valley Gunnery Range in Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac in coordination with the 6015th Range Management Squadron of the Philippine Air Force who has jurisdiction over the Gunnimage004.jpgery Range. The disposal was closely supervised by PSSUPT PERCIVAL G BARBA, Deputy Director of LSS and was observed by Twenty Three (23) newly appointed Police Officer 1 as part of their Field Training Program (FTP).

image005.jpg             On May 31 to June 1, 2011, another disposal operation was conducted by the EOD team led by PSUPT REMIGIO B GREGORIO, Acting Chief of EODD together with the EOD team of PNP Special Action Force (SAF), to get rid of unserviceable small arm ammunitions, tear gas projectiles and explosive ordnance from the stockpiles of PNP-SAF.image003.jpg

            The EOD teams were able to safely and successfully disposed 27,350 rounds of 7.62 mm ammunition, 98 rounds of 12 gauge shotgun ammunition, 48 pieces of surface-trip flare, 141 pieces of Riot-CS grenade and projectile, 150 rounds of 40 mm cartridge, 10 rounds of 105 mm artillery projectile, 1,422 rounds of 60 mm and 81 mm mortar cartridge, and 2,331 rounds of 57 mm cartridge.
